My Fastpass+ Picks for Hollywood Studios
When planning your Disney trip you are allowed to choose three Fastpasses per day for your trip. You get to make these reservations 60 days before the first day of your trip, but you should do your research well before your sign up day so you know exactly which options to pick. Luckily, I've done some research for you and I'm here to share what you should fastpass at Hollywood Studios, what you definitely shouldn't, and a few in between.
This is my third post in a series of Fastpass Picks, so be sure to also check out my Magic Kingdom Picks and Epcot Picks, and then subscribe to my newsletter so you won't miss my choices for Animal Kingdom.
Also, if you haven't already, be sure to check out my previous articles on the number one attraction to fastpass in each park and what to consider when making fastpass+ selections.
Okay so here's the list of everything that you can Fastpass in Hollywood Studios:
Tier One (pick 1):
Tier Two (pick 2):
- Disney Junior - Live on Stage
- For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-along celebration
- Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular
- Muppet*Vision 3D
- Star Tours: The Adventures Continue
- The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror
- Voyage of the Little Mermaid
Now I like to divide the choices up into three sections - Must Fast Pass, Possibly Fastpass, and Definitely Don't Fastpass. I limit myself to 3 "Must Fastpass" choices, since you're only allowed 3 daily fastpasses. I'll also list what I've found to be the average wait time for each attraction. Keep in mind that these are just my choices and you and your family might have different priorities than I do.
First, let's start by sorting out the top tier options.
Tier One Must Fastpass:
Toy Story Midway Mania (60-90 mins)
Until they add the new Star Wars expansion, Midway Mania will always be the ride with the longest wait times. And it's really obvious why- everyone can ride it and participate and everyone loves Toy Story.
It's a no brainer to fastpass this one. Even if you love Rock 'n' Roller Coaster or Tower of Terror more, then maybe consider fastpassing Midway Mania, and then hit your favorite first thing in the morning or during extra magic hours.
Tier One Possibly Fastpass:
Rock 'n' Rollercoaster (40-60 mins)
Rock 'n' Rollercoaster is a Hollywood Studios classic! It typically doesn't have as long of a wait time as Midway Mania, but still it would be a pretty solid fastpass choice. I think that it tends to have a slightly shorter wait time, though, since there are a lot of young kids that are too small to ride it. Plus it's also tucked away in its own corner of the park. Because of this, most families tend to pass it by.
Tier One Definitely Don't Fastpass:
Beauty and the Beast - Live on Stage , Fantasmic
If you've read my posts for fastpass choices for Magic Kingdom and Epcot, then you know that I do not recommend getting fastpasses for shows. To me, this is a waste of a pass, since it's not going to make the show start any sooner, and therefore won't save you any time.
The only thing that a fastpass will get you in this case is a better seat. And maybe it's your favorite show and you want to be in the front row... but honestly, they design these theaters and amphitheaters so that every seat has a good view.
Now that we've got the top tier sorted out, lets move onto tier two.
Tier Two Must Fastpass:
Star Tours - The Adventure Continues (30-50 mins)
This is a must hit for every Star Wars fan! It's a fun quirky trip through space with the greatest droid in the galaxy as your tour guide - C-3PO!
The wait times are not as bad as when the ride first opened, but they still tend to be very long. So it's a great second tier fastpass choice.
Also, this ride changes each time you ride it. You'll go to different planets with different characters, so I recommend getting a fastpass for it and then going back and riding it again when there's less of a line.
The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror (30-60 mins)
Tower of Terror has become a bit of a cult classic for Disney and since they changed the one in Disneyland to a Guardians of the Galaxy attraction, it's even more unique to Hollywood Studios.
It can get pretty long wait times, so it's a pretty good choice for your second tier two fastpass, but if you have small kids that get easily scared you might want to more on to my next choice.
Tier Two Possibly Fastpass:
Muppet-Vision 3D (10-20 mins)
This is one of my all time favorite attractions! I love the Muppets so much and this this short 4D movie is hilarious! Sadly, though, it hasn't been getting much love in recent years, compared to most other rides in the park. I could also easily see them taking it out in a few years since the new Star Wars expansion will essentially cut it off from the rest of the park... that's just speculation, though.
So if my gut is right, I'd recommend seeing it soon! You probably won't need a Fastpass for it, though, since the wait times are typically around 15 minutes.
Tier Two Definitely Don't Fastpass:
Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular , Disney Junior - Live on Stage , For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Spectacular , Voyage of the Little Mermaid
I've lumped together this last chunk of attractions because they're all shows, and, as I mentioned above for tier one, I don't believe in wasting Fastpasses on shows, since all it gets you is a better seat. It doesn't save you any time.
But if any of these shows seem exciting to you, by all means, Fastpass them! Don't let my preferences hold you back. I know that everyone has their own priorities when visiting the parks.
Well, that's my list. Please remember that these are just my opinions and what I typically fastpass when I go to the parks. And, remember that at the end of the day, you probably will have to wait in some lines. It is Disney after all!
